Nissan e-NV200 (ME0 series)
The e-NV200 is the 2014 onwards all electric version of Nissan's award winning NV200 light commercial vehicle. The e-NV200 has all of the advantages of other Electric Vehicles (EV's) such as low running cost, low emmission, and low maintenance, with the added bonus of a far smoother and quiter vehicle, particularly when compared against diesels.
The e-NV200 has a 24kWh lithium ion battery (the same as found in the Nissan Leaf) with a 170 km range under the New European Driving Cycle (NEDC) test, equating to probably slightly less than that in real world use.
Charge time from a regular power socket is 8 - 10 hours with a 4 hour charge from an optional plug in charger, or at a charge station 80% of full capacity can be charged in 30 minutes. Regenerative braking can also charge the battery, and there are multiple driving modes which determine how power is used and regenerated.
The electric engine produces 80kW of power with immediate torque as typical with Electric Vehicles and there is a tight turning radius of 5.2m. Cargo capacity is 3,473L (or 4.2 cubic metres) with a 700kg payload, and a 400kg towing capacity. See images below for interior dimensions, cabin space is maximized with flat wheel wells and there are 6 fold flat tie hooks to secure heavy loads. Access is via either dual sliding doors on either side or from the rear hatch, and the loading height is just 52cm. While 60/40 split french rear doors were available in European and other markets, the Japanese spec e-NV200's were only sold with a one piece rear hatch.
Available models include a wagon which is more passenger oriented with either 5 or 7 seats with headrests, and the second row of seats is a 60/40 split folding arrangement. The van is the same body shape but is more for cargo transport and comes with either a 2 seat or 5 seat setup, with the second row bench seat folding away to maximize cargo space. The majority of e-NV200's come with side windows, though there is a rarer panel van version with metal walls. In practical terms, only the 5 seaters are compliable so people wanting to use all of the rear cargo area and don't need the rear seats folded up can simply remove them.
Features offered on e-NV200's include heated seats, heated steering wheel, smart key access, climate control, fold down front seats that can be used as a desk, multiple storage compartments and pockets in the cabin, USB charger, hill start assist, ABS brakes, Electronic Braking Distribution, traction and stability control, dual airbags (side airbags optional), and rear camera.
